Gisselle Valera is a senior associate at the firm, specialized in government relations, economic regulation, international and local business transactions, and energy law. She has participated in mergers and acquisitions, project financing, and complex transactions involving the structuring of some of the largest energy projects in the Dominican Republic. Gisselle is one of the leaders of the ProBono Department of Jiménez Peña in which she works on social impact initiatives for the community. She has also worked with the National Congress of the Dominican Republic in drafting and negotiating bills to improve the local regulatory framework.

Gisselle is a graduate of the Universidad Iberoamericana de Santo Domingo (UNIBE), studied a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance (MBA) from the Universidad Iberoamericana de Santo Domingo and the International University of Florida, and a Master’s Degree in International Business and Economic Law (LLM) from Georgetown University. She received full scholarships for her MBA and LLB, and in 2005 she was awarded Young National Talent by the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC).

Relevant Recent Experience

• Representation of a Dominican pharmaceutical company in a public tender process for the High Cost Drug Program (Programa de Medicamentos de Alto Costo) and being awarded the same for an amount greater than Ten Million Dominican Pesos.
• Representation of a renewable energy generation company of Taiwanese capital in the implementation of one of the largest photovoltaic projects in the Caribbean for a total installed capacity of 60MW. Likewise, participate in the financing of said photovoltaic plant (Project Finance).
• Participated in the representation team of one of the largest renewable energy generation companies in the acquisition of a portfolio of renewable energy projects of more than 200MW of wind and photovoltaic energy.
