Advised Banco Activo in a capitalization process through which a new investor acquired 70% stake in the Bank increasing the presence of the financial institution in the Dominican Republic. JP assisted the client in the structuring and drafting of all documents required for the transaction, as well as the negotiation and execution of the pertinent agreements and the regulatory authorizations required for such capital injection.
Advised Aviam, Ltd. in very important agreements related to the renegotiation process of the terms and conditions of the contracts to provide exclusive ramp in the Punta Cana International Airport, the busiest airport in the Dominican Republic which offers flights from over 90 airports around the world. After a long negotiation process the new contracts imply an extension of 14 years of exclusivity in the ramp services, resulting in an important commercial alliance among the entities to maintain and increase the relevance of the airport in the strengthening of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.
Advising Grupo Punta Cana in connection with the setting up of an export free zone around the Punta Cana International Airport for the operation of a logistic hub to provide all goods and services related to the operation of an international airport (passenger services, handling facilities, catering services, mechanical services, among others). The assistance has included the setting up of the project, the assistance to obtain the classification as logistic hub and the required permits, real estate matters and an important agreement for the operation of the hub by DP World Caucedo, holding of one of the largest ports, free zone and logistic operator in the Dominican Republic.
Assisted with the due diligence and closing regarding a first-class tourism project in Nisibón, Miches, El Seybo, Dominican Republic, in which Marriott will act as administrator under one of its brands. This new project adds to the various investments Marriott has been making in the Dominican Republic during the last 24 months for the management agreements for tourism projects in Santiago de los Caballeros, Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, Sosúa and Cabarete. The firm has assisted Marriott with all these projects.
