Domestic and International Arbitration

Current industry challenges in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has a legal framework that favors the development and strengthening of arbitration as an alternative mechanism to state jurisdiction, and that is being applied by the courts in a uniform manner, in most cases.

A review and modification of the Law is now required to make our jurisdiction a safer venue for arbitration, both domestic and international.

Our Experience

JP is a pioneer firm in the field of arbitration. The firm has been involved from the beginning in the legislative efforts to provide the country with a legal framework consistent with the fundamental principles of the matter, and this close understanding of the legislation and the institution of arbitration allows us to devise strategies of action or defense that adjust to the particularities of each case and the interests and needs of the clients.

The firm also has vast experience at the international level, acting as counsel for the party, local counterpart or local law experts in arbitrations carried out before international arbitration institutions.
