Consumer Protection

Current industry challenges in the Dominican Republic

With a view to achieving a healthy relationship between consumers, users and providers, recent jurisprudence has regulated the forms of evidence in the area of consumer protection, along with their exceptions. Through judgement number 1075-2020 of the Supreme Court of Justice, special protection for consumers is ruled due to the dominant position of providers.

Additionally, it has been reiterated in principle that, for any doubt regarding consumer rights, an interpretation in favor of the consumer should be weighed.
